PARACHINAR: Security forces foiled a major terror bid near the Pak-Afghan border in Kurram Agency on Saturday.
According to eyewitnesses, Afghan forces opened fire and carried out shelling on civilian areas in the border region of Ghowi. Mortar and missile rounds reportedly landed in the villages of Teri Mangal and Pewar, causing panic among residents.
Security sources said Pakistani forces responded swiftly and effectively, forcing the attackers to retreat. Several bodies were reportedly left behind at the site of the clashes.
Tension in the border areas remains high, while security forces continue to maintain heightened vigilance and strict monitoring of the situation.
3 martyred, 5 injured in cross-border firing from Afghanistan into Kurram
Two security personnel were martyred and three others injured after militants from Afghanistan launched coordinated attacks from three directions along the Pak-Afghan border in Kurram district.
According to police sources, Afghan militants targeted security posts and civilian areas in Upper Kurram using heavy weapons. In response, Pakistani security forces retaliated effectively, engaging the attackers and destroying several of their positions.
