PESHAWAR: Security forces foiled multiple terrorist attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa three different districts, Peshawar, Bannu, and Hangu, forcing the assailants to flee during retaliatory operations.
In Peshawar, militants targeted the Budh Bair police station and the Matni Sar Khwara police post with hand grenades and gunfire.
One constable was injured in the grenade attack on Budh Bair, while seven people, including a police official, were wounded in the assault on the Matni post.
Police said a jirga was underway at the time, and timely retaliatory firing ensured the gathering remained secure, compelling the attackers to escape. The injured were shifted to hospitals for treatment.
In Bannu, terrorists opened fire on the Kashu Bridge and Kingar police posts, but were repelled by effective police response.
DPO Yasir Afridi imposed emergency measures across the city and ordered deployment of police personnel at key roads and intersections.
In Hangu, militants fired at a police post in the Qazi Talab area. Police responded with heavy reinforcements, successfully pushing back the attackers.
According to District Police Officer Khanzaib Mohmand, exchange of fire continued, but no fatalities were reported. Police personnel displayed bravery and professionalism, maintaining control of the area.
