PESHAWAR: Authorities in Lakki Marwat and Bannu have implemented Section 144 restrictions to maintain peace during the upcoming polio vaccination campaign.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa authorities declared Section 144 in Lakki Marwat and Bannu districts to maintain public safety before the national polio vaccination campaign which begins on February 2 2026.
Section 144 will be active in Lakki Marwat district from February 2 until February 5 according to Lakki Marwat Deputy Commissioner Hamidullah Khan. The period prohibits all people from displaying or using weapons and riding motorcycles with two passengers and driving unregistered vehicles and vehicles with tinted windows and five or more people gathering.
The Bannu Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Faheem established Section 144 from February 1 to February 7 to secure the polio campaign operations. The authorities declared that they would pursue strict legal consequences against anyone who breached these directives.
The entire province will receive polio vaccination through the upcoming campaign because all essential vaccine distribution preparations have been successfully completed.
Road safety first: Peshawar bans high-beam vehicle lights
Meanwhile, Peshawar has prohibited high-beam headlights to create safer driving conditions on its streets. The Deputy Commissioner of Peshawar issued an official notification under Section 144, effective from January 30, 2026.
The district administration announced that the ban applies to high-beam lights and flash lights and laser lights which are prohibited throughout the entire city. The installation of modified headlights and their usage has been made illegal while the distribution of high-intensity lights has also been banned.
The notice states that anyone violating the ban on the use or sale of high-beam lights will face strict legal action under Section 188. The authorities established this measure to create safer road conditions which protect citizens from excessive brightness that leads to discomfort.
The administration urged residents to comply with the rules and avoid using high-beam lights to help maintain traffic discipline and road safety.
