A detailed screening process has been started for all the personnel of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s security team to pinpoint personnel of religious background.

According to sources, this operation has been initiated after the recent operation against a religious party, so that the background of all the people associated with the Chief Minister’s security can be fully reviewed.

It must be noted that the Federal Ministry of Interior issued a notification banning a religious party yesterday for its involvement in terrorism. The notification said the party has recently held violent protests across Punjab. According to police sources, the screening process is going on from the Chief Minister’s residence, Jati Umra, to the Chief Minister’s Office. During this, not only the security personnel but also other staff members are being thoroughly investigated.

Sources say that the religious or political orientation of the officials and staff is also being reviewed during the screening. If any person is found to be associated with a religious party or suspicious group, they will be immediately removed from the duty of the Chief Minister’s Office and Jati Umra. According to police sources, this step has been taken from a security perspective to protect the security of the Punjab Chief Minister from any possible threat. A comprehensive report will be submitted to the higher authorities after the screening is completed.
