ISLAMABAD: Authorities from Punjab and Sindh have declared new school timings and extensions of winter holidays due to the drastic drop in temperatures, making students’ safety and health a priority.

The Higher Education Department in Punjab has declared it officially done with the severe cold by announcing the closure of all public and private colleges and extending winter vacations. Following an official announcement, thus the reopening of colleges across the province is set for January 19. Now the Educational institutions have got to revise their examination schedules accordingly.

Rana Sikandar Hayat, the Punjab Provincial Minister of Education, declared that the decision was made in favor of the public and that the largest portion of the respondents suggested the extension of the winter break because of the current weather.

Similarly, in Sindh, the officials chose to alter the hours of the schools instead of prolonging the vacation. Sindh Education Minister, Syed Sardar Ali Shah, after discussions with Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, has declared that all public and private schools in the province will be opening at 9:00 am for two weeks.

The new timing will be effective until January 26, while school closing times will be as usual. A formal notification is issued to make the decision implemented.

The officials said that the measures intend to keep the students warm while academic activities continue with minimal disruption.
