Saudi Arabia’s prominent religious leader, Grand Mufti, President of the Saudi Senior Ulema Council and Head of the Independent Committee for Ifta, Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Sheikh, passed away today.
Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Sheikh was a high-ranking scholar and religious figure, who dedicated his life to serving the religion of Islam and guiding the country.
The news of the death of Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Sheikh has caused deep shock and sorrow in religious and academic circles. Scholars, students and fans expressed their condolences on his death, saying that his scholarly legacy and services will always be remembered.
Paying tribute to the invaluable services of the deceased for his religion and nation, the scholars and the public prayed that Allah Almighty may grant him a place in the shadow of His mercy and grant him a high position in Paradise.
Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman Maulana Tahir Ashrafi also expressed deep sorrow and said that Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al Sheikh was a great scholar and religious figure. With his passing, the Islamic nation has lost a great religious scholar and leader.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expresses condolences
Expressing deep sorrow and grief over the death of the Saudi Grand Mufti, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the death of the deceased is a moment of sorrow not only for Saudi Arabia but also for the entire Muslim Ummah.
The Prime Minister said in his statement that Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah Al Sheikh was a great religious scholar who dedicated his entire life to promoting the Quran and Sunnah, explaining the Holy Sharia and guiding the Muslim Ummah.
‘His intellectual insight and efforts for the unity of the Muslim Ummah will always be remembered.’ Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the Pakistani people and government equally share the grief of the Saudi people and leadership in this hour of sorrow.
‘The religious and intellectual services of the deceased are a bright chapter in the tradition of the Ummah and the generations to come will continue to receive guidance from the intellectual heritage he left behind.’
Shehbaz Sharif expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the Saudi people, praying that Allah Almighty may grant the deceased a high place in Paradise and accept his religious services in His court.

Islamabad: President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the demise of Saudi Arabia’s Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah Al-Sheikh.
The President said that Sheikh Abdul Aziz’s religious services and scholarly guidance will always be remembered. He expressed his heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the family of the deceased, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the people of Saudi Arabia and prayed that Allah Almighty may grant the deceased a high place in Paradise.
