Saudi Arabia has officially announced that Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated on Friday, March 20, 2026, as the crescent moon of Shawwal was not sighted.

According to Saudi authorities, the moon-sighting committees established to observe the crescent received no credible testimonies from any part of the country. As a result, tomorrow will mark the 30th day of Ramazan, and the Eid prayers will take place on Friday.

Preparations for Eid have been completed across the Kingdom, including in the Holy Mosques of Makkah and Madinah, and the celebrations are set to begin.

An important meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee to sight the moon of Shawwal 1447 AH will be held in the federal capital tomorrow, Thursday, March 19, 2026.

‎The meeting will be chaired by the Chairman of the Committee, Maulana Syed Abdul Khabir Azad.

Experts from the Meteorological Department, SUPARCO, and the Ministry of Science and Technology will also attend the meeting to provide technical assistance.

Similarly, meetings of the provincial and zonal committees will be held at their respective centers in Lahore, Karachi, Quetta, and Peshawar.
