ISLAMABAD: Saudi Arabia welcomed the ceasefire between Pakistan and Afghanistan, calling it a major breakthrough for peace and stability.
The statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that it fully supports all efforts of Saudi Arabia and the international community that are going to promote peace, stability, and prosperity, so that the Pakistani and Afghan people benefit from the fruits of peace and development.
The statement further said that Saudi Arabia hopes that this positive step has proven to help resolve the conflict and establish peace between the two countries. The Foreign Ministry said that Turkey also appreciated the role and efforts of Qatar on this occasion, playing an important role in the ceasefire process.
It should be noted that yesterday, after a long period of tension between Pakistan and Afghanistan, an agreement on a ceasefire was finally reached in Qatar. Defence Minister Khawaja Asif confirmed that the two neighbouring countries agreed to respect each other’s sovereignty and the threat of terrorism.
