ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to retain Salman Ali Agha as the captain of the T20 cricket squad until the ICC T20 World Cup.
According to reports, PCB officials are highly impressed with Salman’s leadership style believing it has enhanced the team’s spirit and unity. Officials observe that the national team appears unified, then previously offered little reason to change the captaincy.
Officials also stated that Salman Ali Agha’s leadership has been crucial in steering the team toward victory enhancing confidence in his ability to lead Pakistan in the major event.
Salman captained 38 out of his 40 T20 International games, securing 23 victories and making him Pakistan’s top winning T20I leader. Only Babar Azam (48 wins) and Sarfaraz Ahmed (29 wins) have more captain wins in this format.
Recently, under Salman’s captaincy, Pakistan won the tri-nation T20 series held in Rawalpindi.
Mohammad Rizwan eyes glory in Big Bash League
The Pakistan cricket team wicketkeeper-batsman, Mohammad Rizwan, has shared his excitement and at the same time stated his vision that he wishes to be the top player in the Big Bash League (BBL).
Rizwan, who is part of Melbourne Renegades, expressed that the BBL is a great opportunity for him to show his talent in the country of kangaroos. “If you do good in Australia, then you get to know everywhere very soon,” he said. Besides, he also mentioned that his visibility increased after the series in 2019 so he is now more than ever looking forward to the WBBL.
Rizwan credited a big part of the Australia’s victory to the bold and daring mentality that they had. He even went as far as to say that he loves the hard conditions in Australia as they are a test for both batters and bowlers. “The conditions there suit me perfectly because they are challenging for both sides,” was Rizwan’s remark.
In a narrative mood, Rizwan spoke of how his innings in Australia had been responsible for the change of his career. His dislike of the Australian players was rooted in their practice of minding only their game and not getting involved in the others.
He recounted that during training, Rizwan and Shaheen Afridi had a competitive relationship that was good for both – he said, “Shaheen comes to me and I fight back.”. I aim for boundaries off him and he tries to get me out. It’s all about giving me the best performance,” he said.
