PESHAWAR: The Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Peshawar has launched an operation against rickshaws and taxis illegally plying along the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) route on University Road.

Officials said on Thursday the campaign aims to eliminate unauthorised vehicles operating on the BRT corridor to ensure smooth traffic flow and safety. The operation, which began on Wednesday, will continue throughout the week.

According to the RTA, illegal vehicles will be removed in phases as part of the ongoing enforcement drive. During the campaign, officials from the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Excise Department and Civil Defence will remain on duty to assist in the operation.

The authority said strict action would be taken against violators in line with traffic and transport regulations, adding that the move was intended to improve traffic management along the busy BRT route.
