BAJAUR: Three persons of the same family killed when the roof of a mud house suddenly collapsed in remote Niag Banda area of Tehsil Mamond on Wednesday.
According to local sources, the family members were present in the room when the roof, which was already in shabby condition due to the rain, suddenly collapsed, as a result of which four members of the family were buried under the rubble.
Three members of the same family died on the spot in this tragic accident. The deceased include a woman and two young girls. Another woman was seriously injured in the accident, who was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for medical attention, where her condition is said to be critical.
As soon as the incident occurred, chaos erupted in the area and a large number of locals reached the scene. Even before the government rescue teams arrived, the locals pulled out the people buried under the rubble with their own help. However, three people could not survive due to the heavy roof debris.
According to initial information, the intermittent rains in Bajaur and its surroundings for the past few days have caused severe damage to the mud houses. The room of the affected house in Niyag Banda had become extremely dilapidated due to the rains, which could not bear the load and collapsed.
The district administration and the relief department have warned citizens to stay away from dilapidated and shabby houses during the rains and to immediately inform the relevant authorities in case of any emergency.
