SYDNEY: One of the most memorable moments in Rohit Sharma’s career came to an end as he played a fantastic century in the last ODI against Australia, quashing any rumors of his bad form, and, as a result, he set a new record.
Australia batted first at the Sydney Cricket Ground and scored 237 runs in the first innings. India, in response, began their chase but didn’t get off to a good start with Shubman Gill’s failure. However, the pair of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli changed the course of the match from Australia to India as the visitors won the game by 9 wickets.
Sharma, 38, could finally commemorate his 33rd ODI hundred when he hit it off the very last ball of the 33rd over bowled by Adam Zampa. This achievement also represents the 50th time international centuries have been scored by Sharma, making him the foreign player with the most ODI centuries in Australia i.e. he broke the record of Kohli who was holding the record of five hundreds the highest.
In the ninth ODI innings against Australia, Rohit Sharma finally scored a hundred. He had only managed 8 runs in the first game of the series and this had led to lots of speculation about his capability to lead till the 2027 World Cup. However, he made a remarkable turnaround by scoring 73 in the second ODI and thus, Kochli was pretty.
Virat Kohli regained his touch as well by playing a steady and controlled innings of 74 runs in the final match which was very crucial for the chase to keep going.

Australia may have won the series with victories in the first two ODIs, but India’s triumph in the last game stopped the Aussies from a clean sweep and, at the same time, showed the veterans’ fighting spirit.
