The road inauguration ceremony in Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi’s constituency in Jamrud tehsil of Khyber district turned into a major chaos, where a scuffle and a fierce clash were witnessed after bitter exchanges between two warring factions of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

According to sources, the inauguration ceremony of an important public project (road) was going on in Jamrud when workers of two local PTI groups started shouting slogans against each other. Soon, the bitter exchanges turned into scuffles, which led to a stampede at the ceremony venue.

Disturbing revelations have come to light that during the clash, the enraged workers also harassed the government employees present there and threatened them with serious consequences. Seeing the situation deteriorating, the security personnel present at the spot immediately intervened and brought the situation under control by mediating between the parties.

Tensions persist in the area after the incident, in view of which the administration has been mobilized. Taking strict notice of the disorder, the higher authorities have ordered a complete investigation into the incident.

Local elders and political circles have demanded immediate legal action against those responsible for sabotaging the event. Political Leaders say that the internal differences of the party in the Chief Minister’s own constituency have become a big question mark for the local leadership of PTI. The administration says that those who disrupt official ceremonies and threaten employees will be dealt with according to the law so that such unpleasant incidents can be prevented in the future.
