ABBOTTABAD: A fire broke out unexpectedly in the forests bordering Gumaon Crushing Plant on Thandiani Road in Abbottabad. The fire, a result of still unknown causes, has very rapidly spread and for this reason, the authorities of Rescue 1122, Emergency services, took immediate action.

As soon as the emergency call was received, Rescue 1122 sent two firefighting trucks and ambulances to the place. The fire soon encompassed a vast area of the woods, Nawan Shehr and Abbottabad teams coming in to start the firefighting operations.

Rescue 1122 officials, though faced with tough and very dark conditions, persevered in their efforts to subdue the flames. The District Emergency Officer Hafeez Rehman and Emergency Officer Fahad Ali Masood have made the decision to reinforce the firefighting crew with an additional 10 men.

Due to the fire spreading at high speed and the difficult circumstances, it is possible that additional Rescue teams will be requested to come and assist in the firefighting.

Tayyab Abdullah, the Director General of Rescue 1122 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has given the command to prepare the entire troop of resources that can be spared for the fire control operation.

The condition is still very critical, and the authorities are doing their best continuously to reduce the impact and protect the public.

Fire erupts in Galiyat forest, containment efforts underway

Last month, a sudden fire erupted across the forests of Kandla, Ayubiya, Tohidabad, Donga Gali and Nathia Gali popular tourist destinations in the Galiyat region engulfing vast stretches of woodland.

Hundreds of mature trees and thousands of saplings have reportedly been reduced to ashes. while posing a serious threat to wildlife habitats in the area.

District administration officials said the blaze had endangered wildlife habitats, prompting emergency response measures.

Rescue teams and fire brigades from across the Hazara division have been called in to assist in firefighting efforts.

The district administration has also formally requested two helicopters from the provincial government and the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) to support aerial firefighting and monitoring operations.

Teams from Rescue 1122, the police, and the district administration are currently present at the affected sites and are working to bring the situation under control.

Authorities said efforts were underway to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby residential areas and tourist facilities.

Further updates are expected as firefighting operations continue.
