Pak-Afghan Kharlachi border closure enters 33rd day amid deadlock
Meanwhile, Pakistan-Afghanistan Kharlachi border closure has entered its 33rd day on Thursday amid a deadlock. Borders connecting Pakistan and Afghanistan were closed by the authorities after the recent border conflict between the neighbouring countries.
According to sources, the Pak-Afghan Kharlachi border has been closed for all types of traffic and trade for the past 33 days.
As a result of this closure, trade activities on both sides have been suspended, leaving more than a hundred watches stranded in the villages of Nastikot, Shengak, and Kharlachi.
Drivers from Afghanistan are encountering significant challenges regarding food, water, and accommodation. Many drivers in Parachinar have expressed their distress, stating, “We have run out of money and are in serious difficulties.”
Despite the severe cold, they are finding it very difficult to sleep on the road. However, residents have been very helpful, providing significant assistance to address their problems.
Drivers have urged that the border be temporarily reopened so they can return to their homes. In the past, three and a half vehicles used to cross the Pak-Afghan Kharlachi border every day, according to border officials.
