ISLAMABAD: The government of Pakistan has issued an ultimatum that all citizens seeking jobs abroad must be registered on the “Pak Skills” platform before they set off.

As per the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis, no passport will be issued with a protector stamp if the person has not gone through the registration process.”

This is a new controlled measure starting from 19th November, which aims not only to reduce incidents of human trafficking but also to provide a transparent and trustworthy process for overseas employment. In addition to that, the ministry assures that the registration on the Pak Skills application is free without any hidden charges.

The users of the Pak Skills app will have to submit their personal data such as CNIC and passport numbers, educational qualifications, and also information about overseas jobs. After successful enrollment, they will be issued a “Pak Skills Certificate,” which will be required for the protector stamp that permits working abroad.

It has also been reported that the officials saw the newly implemented scheme as an integral part of the government’s comprehensive strategy to secure the rights of migrant workers while lowering various risks that come with illegal migration and human trafficking.

Previously the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had already come up with new stringent rules for Pakistani job seekers flying overseas. In accordance with those regulations, the travellers are now compelled to submit a government officer-signed (Grade 18 or 19) affidavit that declares they will abide by their assigned job location and will not try to illegally enter Europe or any other areas.

The government is quite optimistic that the “Pak Skills” platform is going to bring positive changes to the monitoring of Pakistani workers overseas while at the same time, it will be a guarantee for their safety, legality, and welfare ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌provision.
