Rawalpindi, Islamabad Metro Bus Service Suspended as employees protested over non-payment of salaries.
The metro bus service running between Rawalpindi and Islamabad has been suspended due to the protest of employees, due in thousands of passengers who travel daily are facing severe difficulties. The employees of the metro bus service went on strike by walking off work in protest against the non-payment of salaries, as a result of which the bus service was completely stopped.
According to sources, the employees also closed the metro bus counters during the protest, which stopped the sale of tickets, and passengers were deprived of buses. Long queues of passengers formed at various metro bus stations, while citizens going to offices, educational institutions, and other places were seen in great distress.
The metro bus service in the twin cities is a source of cheap and fast travel facility for thousands of citizens every day; however, the suspension of the service has forced citizens to resort to alternative transport, due to which there are also complaints of rush on the roads and an increase in fares.
The employees say that they have not been paid their salaries for a long time, due to which they have been forced to protest. They demand that the due salaries be paid immediately, otherwise the scope of the protest can be expanded further.
On the other hand, no official statement has been made by the administration yet regarding the restoration of the service or the demands of the employees; however, the citizens have demanded that the government and the relevant authorities resolve the issue immediately and restore the metro bus service so that the public does not have to face any further difficulties.
