ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s Adviser Senator Rana Sanaullah has announced that the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is presently detained at Adiala Jail, where he’s in good health secure and provided with all required amenities.
Speaking during a talk show on SAMAA TV, Rana Sanaullah mentioned that Pakistani legislation permits detainees to meet with their lawyers and relatives. No law authorizes any prisoner to lead a movement against the government from within prison. He further stated that if limitations were imposed on visits, with the PTI founder “it was probably a decision taken by the prison officials.”
Rana Sanaullah explained that he did not know who exactly enforced the prohibition on meetings, with the PTI founder. He said that prison authorities might have indicated that delicate political conversations were taking place during these visits.
The adviser blamed the PTI founder for “ruining the climate” of the nation, adding that he introduced animosity and offensive speech into the arena. No previous leader had embraced conduct.
He compared this to Jamaat-i-Islami’s peaceful Palestine March, in Islamabad which was allowed whereas another religious political party was halted because of security reasons.
Rana Sanaullah emphasized that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called upon all parties, including PTI to engage in talks, under the suggested “Charter of Stability.”
“If PTI agrees to negotiations a favourable atmosphere can be established. They ought to start by seeking a meeting with their founder.”
He verified that the PTI founder is secure, in Adiala Jail:
“His health is good he has access to all amenities. He is doing well.”
Responding to critiques about the occurrences on November 26 Rana Sanaullah stood in support of law enforcement bodies:
He asserted that PTI activists were armed with weapons during their demonstration and cautioned that no government can tolerate armed factions defying its power.
Rana Sanaullah also said that if political leader Mehmood Achakzai chooses to sit with the government, PTI has no right to “expel” him from politics.
