PESHAWAR: Intermittent rain and heavy snowfall in the mountains are expected in all districts, Northern areas including Gilgit, Hunza, Skardu, Ghizer, Astore, Diamer, and Neelum Valley, from January 20 to 23.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, heavy snowfall is also expected in Chitral, Swat, Kalam, Malam Jabba, Dir, Shangla, and Abbottabad, which may affect the connectivity of roads. Heavy snowfall has been predicted in Murree and Galiyat from January 21 to 23, which may cause difficulties for tourists.
The risk of landslides is high in mountainous areas due to recent earthquakes during rain and snowfall. Heavy snowfall is likely to affect traffic on the Karakoram Highway and other major routes.
Tourists and residents are advised to avoid unnecessary travel and to stay in touch with the local administration and PDMA in case of any emergency.
