BUNER: Heavy rain badly affected maize crops in Buner and Swat district significantly reduced production of in already calamity hit areas.

Local people told Pakhtun Digital that they spent a lot of money on maize crops but repeated rain have not affected the standing crops which were almost ready for reaping.

Tanosh Khan resident of Buner said that he spent Rs 30,000 on plough, pesticides and nitrate for maize crops but production will not overcome their loss.

He said that last night rain damaged the standing crops as well as those which are under harvesting. He said that some of the grain also affected over the roof laying for drying .

The rain also affected maize crops in Swat and Madyan areas. It is to mentioned here that Swat and Mingora already hit by flood and last night rain has also inflicted heavy losses to farmers.
