MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that the ongoing conflict between the US and Israel against Iran could have a similarly catastrophic effect on the global economy as the COVID-19 pandemic did which disrupted international markets and industries throughout the world.
Putin delivered his speech about the Middle Eastern conflict which produces serious effects on international production and logistics systems to an audience of Russian industrialists and businessmen at a Moscow gathering. He explained that the crisis has already started to impact industries which include oil and gas, metals, and fertilizers together with other major industrial sectors.
Putin compared the present situation to the COVID-19 pandemic which caused a worldwide decline in economic development. He warned that ongoing fighting would disrupt global supply networks while driving up economic risk for businesses.
The Russian president also warned his government and energy companies not to squander the revenue generated from rising oil prices. He explained that financial policy needs to proceed with extreme caution because global markets might experience sudden unfavourable shifts.
Putin stated that Russia has stabilized its economy through its ability to overcome sanctions yet he emphasized the country needs to maintain its strength because global conditions are evolving. He also explained that no nation can defend its essential national interests without establishing sovereignty which applies to every aspect of its operations from economic matters to transportation and logistics and financial systems.
