MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced unconditional support for Iran, reaffirming Moscow’s close ties with Tehran amid escalating regional tensions.

In a message marking the Persian New Year (Nowruz), Putin extended greetings to Iranian leaders and emphasized that Russia stands firmly with Iran. “Russia is with Iran,” he said, describing Moscow as a loyal friend and reliable partner of Tehran.

The statement comes at a time when Iran is facing heightened tensions, with ongoing hostilities involving the United States and Israel.

Putin’s remarks underscore the strengthening strategic partnership between Russia and Iran, as both countries continue to coordinate on regional and international issues. Analysts say such statements could further influence the geopolitical landscape in the Middle East.

Tehran signals continued military response amid rising tensions

Meanwhile, Iran has vowed to continue defending itself for as long as required amid rising regional tensions.

In a statement reported by media outlets, Araghchi said Iran would keep fighting if a full-scale war is imposed on the country. “We will continue to defend ourselves for as long as necessary,” he said.

The Iranian foreign minister described Tehran’s stance as defensive, claiming that recent hostilities were initiated by Israel and the United States. He emphasized that Iran’s actions are aimed at safeguarding its national security.

Araghchi further indicated that Iran may continue military operations or retaliatory measures, adding that such actions would persist until the country’s security concerns are fully addressed.

The remarks come amid heightened tensions in the region, raising concerns about potential escalation and broader conflict.
