PESHAWAR: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Faisal Karim Kundi has said that the responsibility for the sit-ins and road closures in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa lies with the provincial government. He urged the federal government to also play a role in reopening the roads.
Kundi pointed out that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government enjoys certain conveniences, such as using the facilities at the Pakhtunkhwa House, where they have access to complete arrangements. He mentioned that officials take advantage of these amenities in the morning and then participate in the sit-ins at their convenience before returning.
The Governor raised a question about the situation in the Parliament House, where daily work and meetings proceed smoothly, and there are no issues in providing food to the opposition. In contrast, he noted that all roads in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been closed due to the ongoing sit-ins.
Kundi also inquired of the Inspector General why no action has been taken against the roadblocks if only 15 individuals are causing disruptions, suggesting that these sit-ins should be treated as equivalent to police disturbances.
