PESHAWAR: Adviser to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Finance, Muzzammil Aslam, has criticised the federal government for its distribution of development funds.

He stated that projects worth Rs 43 billion have been approved exclusively for Punjab and Sindh, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been completely overlooked. Aslam expressed that it is shameful for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to receive a smaller share than Balochistan.

According to available information, Punjab, governed by the PML-N, will receive Rs 23.5 billion, which constitutes 54.5% of the total allocation. Of this amount, Rs 17.6 billion will be spent through the Punjab government, while the federal government will allocate Rs 5.9 billion for electricity supply projects in rural areas of Punjab. Additionally, another Rs 400 million will be allocated through the Defence Division.

Aslam mentioned that Members of the National Assembly from Sindh are set to receive Rs 15.3 billion, of which Rs 10.3 billion will be spent via the Sindh government. In comparison, the remaining Rs 4.3 billion will be managed by the Pakistan Infrastructure Development Company. In stark contrast, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will receive only Rs 1.3 billion, allocated directly through the PIDC and WAPDA. Meanwhile, Balochistan will receive Rs 2.3 billion, and Islamabad will be allocated Rs 750 million.
