PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi, took immediate notice of a complaint received on social media about the serious condition of a young child and made an emergency visit to the Emergency Children’s Ward of Lady Reading Hospital.

According to the details, the Chief Minister met the child’s family during the visit and conducted a complete inquiry into the matter so that every aspect could be reviewed. The hospital administration and the concerned doctors informed that due to a shortage of beds in the children’s ICU, it is necessary to immediately transfer the patient to Khyber Teaching Hospital, where beds are immediately available.

Sohail Afridi immediately issued orders for the provision of an ambulance and the timely transfer of the patient so that there is no delay in saving lives. Moreover, the Chief Minister directed the immediate provision of new beds for paediatric ICU, the establishment of fabricated extension rooms, and augmentation of ICU capacity on an emergency basis. He clarified that if beds are not available in government hospitals, treatment will be arranged in private hospitals, and all the expenses will be borne by the government.

The Chief Minister took notice of the shortage of rooms in doctors’ hostels and directed the concerned authorities to take immediate steps to make the centralized hospital system effective for the availability of beds in hospitals. Orders were also issued to resolve the problems of other patients on the spot.

The Chief Minister said, “The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government stands with the doctors and teachers’ community, and their welfare and convenience are the priority of the government.” This move is a clear example of public leadership, in which the government gave the life and health of a child the top priority and further strengthened the trust of the people by taking immediate practical step.
