ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPs and Sunni Ittehad Council leaders staged a massive protest and sit-in outside the Supreme Court against the health of PTI founder Imran Khan.
A large number of the party’s top leadership and assembly members participated in the protest, including Allama Nasir Abbas: Opposition Leader in the Senate and Head of MWM, Salman Akram Raja: Secretary General PTI, Aamir Dogar, Shafi Jan, Muhammad Hussain, Shahid Khattak and other members of the National and Provincial Assemblies.
During the protest, they demanded examination by personal doctors and PTI founder be given access to his personal doctors (especially Dr. Asim Yousaf and Dr. Nosherwan Barki).
They called the report of the government medical board insufficient and called for an independent examination.
The Supreme Court was demanded to immediately schedule the pending cases of the PTI founder and provide him with legal rights.
The protest took the position that the jail administration’s obstruction of Imran Khan’s meetings with his family and lawyers is a violation of human rights.
The members of parliament expressed serious concern over the reports that have emerged regarding Imran Khan’s eyesight in recent days and demanded that he be shifted to the hospital immediately.
Salman Akram Raja and Allama Nasir Abbas, while talking to the media, said that until the nation is satisfied regarding the health and safety of the PTI founder, their protest will continue in different forms. Due to this protest, strict security arrangements were made in the red zone and a heavy police force was deployed.
After this protest, various petitions regarding the health and meetings of the PTI founder are under hearing in the Supreme Court and the High Court, while the PTI leadership has also announced to continious legal struggle.
