SWABI: Around 200 workers of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) blocked the Peshawar-Islamabad M1 Motorway in Swabi, causing significant difficulties for commuters. Passengers stranded on both sides of the motorway voiced their frustrations with the provincial government.

The protesters set fire to tyres and blocked the roadway for several hours, creating major obstacles for travellers. Stranded passengers reported to Pakhtun Digital that they had been stuck since morning and were facing serious challenges due to the blockade.

The PTI workers organised a protest rally on the motorway in Swabi district, demanding a meeting between the imprisoned PTI founder, Imran Khan, and other PTI leaders, as well as his family.

The protest was called by the PTI central leadership and took place in Swabi and outside the Islamabad High Court on Tuesday.

The Adiala Jail authorities on Tuesday allowed the PTI founder Imran Khan’s sister Uzma Khanum to meet the incarcerated former prime minister.

The media reported that Uzma entered the prison to visit her brother while numerous PTI supporters gathered outside the facility.

This development occurred amid PTI protests outside the Islamabad High Court and Adiala Jail, where they demonstrated against the restrictions on the former prime minister’s visitation rights. The party claimed that the ex-premier’s family and party leaders had been denied access to him for several weeks.
