ISLAMABAD: Participants at the party’s parliamentary party meeting of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf have expressed no confidence in the performance of the party secretary general and blamed him for his failure to arrange a meeting with party chairman Imran.
Members say that Salman Akram Raja is an apolitical person who is not fit for the post of Secretary General of the party. According to them, a Secretary General should have a deep understanding of political matters and a strong grip on the internal affairs of the party. Failure to convey Imran Khan’s message: Party members say that Salman Akram Raja is unable to convey Imran Khan’s messages and instructions effectively to the members, which has resulted in mistrust and chaos in the party’s strategy and messages.
Some members also alleged that Salman Akram Raja resorted to verbal abuse within the party, and this further deteriorated the internal relations of the party. Salman Akram Raja was also made the head of the party’s legal committee, but he is accused of not meeting the founding leaders of the party since he took charge of this position. This shows that important legal decisions and strategies have been disrupted within the party.
Salman Akram Raja was given the responsibility of giving a protest call by the party, but the protest call was not given in November, which further increased the resentment of the party members. It is important to note that when the protest call was promised, some kind of action was expected against the government or the opponents through it, which was an important opportunity for the party’s politics.
The session also witnessed verbal exchanges and fights between members. This indicates that differences in grouping and leadership have intensified in the party. Party members are at odds and are accusing each other. This shows that there is a lack of trust within the party, and this can be a dangerous sign for the future of a political party.
If these differences and conflicts continue like this, then the party may suffer. Raising such serious questions about the internal unity and leadership of the party can prove disastrous for a political party, especially when it has become an important and central political force. Such internal problems can also affect the external image of the party. If the party leadership fights among itself, it can also have a bad effect on public support.
The questions raised over Salman Akram Raja’s performance as Secretary General and the movement by members to remove him from the post indicate a deep political turmoil within the party. If the PTI does not improve its internal affairs soon, it could pose a challenge to the party’s future. At a time when the political landscape in Pakistan is changing rapidly, the PTI needs a united leadership to maintain its position in the country’s politics.
