Political interference and tension over the issue of government recruitments in Shangla district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa took a serious turn when a scuffle broke out between a local leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and District Education Officer (DEO) Male, Aurangzeb Khan after a heated exchange of words.

According to sources, the basis of the dispute was differences over the recent recruitments of Class Four employees. It is being told that the said PTI leader was allegedly pressuring to recruit specific individuals, which DEO Aurangzeb Khan refused, citing rules and merit.

Eyewitnesses said that during the discussion, the atmosphere became heated and the political leader lost his temper and attacked the government official. As a result of the scuffle, Aurangzeb Khan suffered physical injuries, while other staff in the office rescued him.

As soon as the news of the incident spread, there is intense anger and resentment among the officers and employees of the education department. Officers said that if the bureaucracy in government offices is subjected to political pressure and violence, it will become impossible to work.

The staff has demanded that an FIR be registered immediately against the involved PTI leader and he must be arrested. Teachers and office staff have threatened to go on a strike if justice is not served.

The district administration and police have started an investigation as soon as the incident was reported. According to hospital sources, Aurangzeb Khan’s condition is out of danger, however, his medical examination has been completed so that legal action can be taken forward.
