ISLAMABAD: The opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) welcomed the signing of a landmark Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, expressing hope that it would strengthen bilateral ties and contribute to regional security.
In a statement, the party described the pact as a reaffirmation of the historic depth of Pakistan-Saudi relations, rooted in Islamic brotherhood, shared strategic interests, and long-standing mutual support.
“The enhancement of defence and security cooperation between the two brotherly nations has the potential to positively impact both bilateral and regional stability,” the PTI noted.
The statement further highlighted that PTI’s imprisoned founder Imran Khan had always envisioned Pakistan as a unifying force for the Muslim world and a promoter of peace.
It termed the strengthened partnership with Saudi Arabia as “a vital step towards Muslim unity and collective security,” stressing that the sanctity and protection of Harmain-ul-Sharifain remained central to the faith of every Pakistani.
The party added that it looked forward to the government sharing further details of the agreement with the public, ensuring transparency and keeping the people informed.
