Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan has appealed to the people to attend a public rally in Peshawar on September 27, calling it a demonstration of the nation’s freedom and voice against oppression.

The PTI leadership in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has termed its rally in Peshawar on September 27 as a milestone for the release of the jailed party founder. The rally will be held near the Ring Road Motorway Chowk in Peshawar at 4 pm.

The PTI has appointed Chief Minister’s Spokesperson Faraz Mughal as the focal person for the rally. Party leaders have termed the upcoming gathering as a historic moment in the ‘real freedom movement’ along with the call for Imran’s release.

Chief Minister Gandapur told reporters that we are united for the release of Imran Khan, the Peshawar gathering will create history, this gathering is a continuation of the struggle for real freedom, the nation is fighting for its rights under the leadership of Imran Khan, everyone must unite to strengthen this movement.

Imran Khan was arrested on May 9, 2023. Following his arrest, riots broke out across the country, with party leaders and workers staging protests that targeted both civil and military installations, including Jinnah House and the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.

The government condemned the events as a “black day” and decided to try the protesters under the Army Act. The unrest resulted in the arrest of several PTI members and their trial in military courts. In December, a military court convicted 25 people, including Imran Khan’s nephew Hassan Khan Niazi, and later sentenced 60 more.
