ISLAMABAD: The Chief Minister Sohail Afridi went to Adiala Jail to see Imran Khan the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) but prison officials refused him the opportunity to visit the party’s founding leader.

The Chief Minister’s delegation included key PTI members who were joined by party workers including Salman Akram Raja and Shahid Khattak and Meena Khan Afridi and Junaid Akbar. PTI announced their protest outside Adiala Jail after waiting for an extended period of time.

Party Secretary-General Salman Akram Raja confirmed that today PTI parliamentarians will visit the Supreme Court to deliver a formal memorandum to the Chief Justice. The memorandum which Raja described, demands that Imran Khan receive the opportunity to meet his family and personal doctor while undergoing his complete medical examination.

According to PTI, the protest aimed to inform both the public and authorities about the need for transparency regarding the health situation of the party’s founder.

They demanded that Imran Khan receive medical treatment which he is entitled to according to both his legal rights and human rights. PTI leaders announced that they would continue to pursue their demands through legal and constitutional channels in the courts after the protest ended.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi travelled to Adiala Jail because he wanted to meet Imran Khan. The officials at the jail received a list from PTI which included six leaders who wanted to visit the jail with Afridi among them.

The officials scheduled the meeting time after they received the meeting request approval. Security officials had established increased protection measures around Adiala Jail because they expected the upcoming meeting to occur.

The authorities had established additional police security while they conducted monitoring activities which involved all entry points and exit points at Adiala Jail.
