ISLAMABAD: Salman Akram Raja, Secretary General of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has explained that the recent controversial remarks by the party’s founder and his sisters do not convey the party’s position but rather express their individual opinions.
Addressing reporters outside Adiala Jail Raja stressed that although official discussions with the founder were earlier managed smoothly within hours the current limitations on visits are not imposed by the party but stem from choices made by specific state officials in April. “The accountability, for meetings rests with certain state factions, who resolved to prohibit these visits ” he remarked.
He mentioned that the founder possesses the right to see his children. His daughters are being refused visitation even though legal processes are underway a move he called unprecedented in terms of legality and ethics. Raja condemned the treatment of visitors commenting, “Visitors are permitted based on the system’s judgment not by any legal mandate. Selected individuals are permitted to visit while others are barred.”
Speaking to his supporters he mentioned that individuals stand together in unity. Emphasized that the party must not abandon the founder’s daughters. He also explained, “Thousands and millions of accounts are beyond our control; we should not be accountable. The remarks, from the founder and his sisters reflect their opinions, not the party’s stance. We do not act as a censorship authority so whatever Khan Sahib expresses is what is communicated outwardly.”
This statement comes amid ongoing legal and political tensions surrounding the PTI founder and restrictions on his prison visits.
PTI bars workers from accompanying Imran Khan’s sisters or lawyers to jail
On Monday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided not to send its members to Adiala Jail on Tuesday to visit party founder Imran Khan along with his sisters or legal representatives.
The resolution was reached at the opposition alliance’s parliamentary party gathering, where attendees talked about the method for meeting Imran Khan in Adiala. Sources reveal that the party decided that no supporters would join Khan’s sisters or legal representatives guaranteeing that the government would be unable to initiate any crackdown or hindrance.
At the meeting it was agreed that members must submit their positions to the Speaker via the Advisory Committee ensuring all pertinent documents reach the Speaker’s office as, per the party’s directives. Leaders including Mahmood Khan Achakzai were instructed to adhere to this process.
Following the meeting PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar stated that the party supports discussion and solutions based on understanding. “PTI has always been open to negotiations and we aim for the situation to get better” he remarked.
Barrister Gohar also reiterated the party’s stance saying, “PTI has always valued the role of institutions and holds that a robust army ensures Pakistan’s stability.”
He condemned those attempting to sow discord between PTI and state bodies. “What occurred was incorrect. Ought not to have taken place. Certain people aim to spark conflicts and create a divide, between the institutions and PTI” he stated.
Gohar further noted that the beneficiaries of this “divide” are those who are instigating the conflict and misrepresenting PTI’s position.
