ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Wednesday clarified that information regarding any disruption of internet services on 15 January is incorrect and without a factual basis. Internet services across Pakistan remain stable and fully operational.

PTA issued a late time clarification stating that routine submarine cable maintenance is ongoing and will not affect internet service. PTA continues to monitor networks to ensure uninterrupted connectivity.

It said that internet services will remain stable and fully operational across the country.

Earlier, internet service providers reported that there would be an outage in the internet from 2PM to 8PM on January 15.

Internet users across Pakistan are likely to experience slow speeds and possible service disruptions on January 15 as repair work on a submarine internet cable is scheduled to begin.

According to various Internet provider sources, the repair activity will start at around 2 pm and is expected to take up to eight hours to complete. During this period, internet speeds may remain sluggish as international bandwidth will be partially affected due to the maintenance work.

Telecom company Naya Tel has issued an alert to its customers through emails, warning of potential degradation in internet services during the repair process. Other service providers have also advised users to expect intermittent slow connectivity.
