The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and the Ministry of Climate Change & Environmental Coordination (MoCC&EC) have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Tuesday at PTA Headquarters to advance Green ICT, promote responsible e-waste management, and foster climate-resilient digital infrastructure across Pakistan.
The collaboration underscores PTA’s leadership in aligning digital transformation with environmental sustainability through coordinated policy development, knowledge sharing, and joint initiatives. Key focus areas include energy-efficient telecom networks, sustainable ICT infrastructure, and capacity-building programs to drive eco-friendly innovation.
Chairman PTA, Major General (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman, HI (M) SI, emphasised that the partnership marks a significant step towards embedding environmental responsibility into Pakistan’s digital agenda, in line with the Digital Pakistan Vision, Vision 2025, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
PTA reinforces Pakistan’s commitment to the ITU G5 Regulatory Framework and paves the way for a sustainable, inclusive, and environmentally conscious digital future.

A significant development about iPhone 17 Pro Max registration, as the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced on Friday that tax can now be paid in monthly installments instead of a one-time payment.
Bank Alfalah’s e-commerce platform, Alpha Mall, has introduced this new facility. Users can pay the PTA tax for the iPhone 17 Pro Max in instalments ranging from 3 to 36 months.
According to Alpha Mall, monthly installments will start at Rs 10,825. Short-term plans (3 or 6 months) are available with no interest, while long-term plans (9 to 36 months) will incur a modest 2.5% markup.
This option will be particularly beneficial for those who wish to register an imported iPhone with PTA but cannot afford to pay the full tax amount upfront.
To apply, users should visit the Alpha Mall website, enter their iPhone’s IMEI number, name, and ID card number, then select “Buy Now Letter” along with their preferred payment plan.
