Lahore Qalandars made a winning start to the event by defeating Hyderabad Kingsmen by 69 runs after a one-sided match in the eleventh edition of the Pakistan Super League.
Chasing a huge target of 200 runs by Lahore Qalandars in the opening match played at Gaddafi Stadium, the entire Hyderabad Kingsmen team collapsed for just 130 runs in 19.5 overs. Captain Marnus Labuschagne stood out for the Kingsmen with 26, and Saim Ayub with 17 runs; however, no batsman could resist the Qalandars bowlers for long.
For Lahore Qalandars, Sikandar Raza, Haris Rauf and Obaid Shah bowled devastatingly and took two wickets each, while Mustafizur Rahman took one wicket. Earlier, Lahore Qalandars, having won the toss and elected to bat first, had posted a mammoth total of 199 for 6 in the allotted overs.
Fakhar Zaman played an aggressive innings of 53 off 39 balls, which included 10 impressive fours. Haseebullah Khan scored 40 and Mohammad Naeem scored 30. For Hyderabad, Hassan Khan and Riley Meredith took two wickets each, while Mohammad Ali took one wicket.
