The ongoing debate regarding the name of the Rawalpindi franchise ahead of the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is now becoming clear.
According to recent reports, the franchise has changed its name from ‘Pindiz’ to ‘RawalPINDIZ.
The confusion over the name of the new franchise of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which was recently bought by ‘Wally Technologies’ for a record Rs 2.45 billion, has ended.
The team management has quietly changed the name from ‘Pindes’ to ‘Rawalpindi’ on its social media handles.
According to sources, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and league officials had instructed the franchise that it is mandatory to include the full name of the city in the branding so that the team’s regional affiliation is clear. Earlier, it was also being written as ‘Rawalpindi Pindes’ in the official press release and schedule of the PSL, while the franchise was using only the name ‘Pindes’.
The franchise had introduced the name ‘Pindes’ in February through a promotional video, which received a mixed response from cricket fans. However, now the team has officially adopted the title of RawalPINDIZ, which also retains the distinctive style of ‘Pindies’ along with ‘Rawalpindi’.
It should be noted that the 11th edition of PSL is starting from March 26, 2026, in which 8 teams will be seen in action for the first time.
