Pakistan Super League franchise Multan Sultan was sold on record price by Wali Tech Group for Rs 2.45 billion.
There was a significant increase in bids during the auction and the team’s price exceeded Rs 2.25 billion. The starting price of the team for the auction was set at Rs 182 crore, while five bidders participated in the auction process.
Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and former Chairman Najam Sethi also attended the event held at Expo Center Lahore. Former national team batsman Zaheer Abbas also attended the auction, while Lahore Qalandars owners Samin Rana and Atif Rana were also present on the occasion.
At the end of the auction process, the Multan team was acquired by Wali Tech Group, with which the franchise sale phase in the PSL was successfully completed. It should be noted that the Pakistan Cricket Board had taken over the management of Multan Sultans for the current season after former owner Ali Tareen decided not to retain ownership of the team.
Later, after the auction of two new teams in the PSL was successful, the Cricket Board had decided to include Multan Sultans in the auction as well.
