PESHAWAR: Peshawar Zalmi created a unique world record in Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) by successfully chasing the highest-ever target without any individual half-century.

Zalmi achieved the milestone while chasing a daunting 215-run target against Rawalpindi Raiders, scoring 218 runs without any batter reaching the 50-run mark.

The feat surpasses the previous record set in Major League Cricket, where a team had chased 214 runs without a half-century.

Peshawar Zalmi established a global record which they used to create a new domestic record for Pakistan cricket with their team total which they achieved without any player reaching fifty runs.

The previous record for most runs scored without a half-century remained with Lahore Qalandars and Quetta Gladiators who both achieved 209 runs.

Zalmi’s historic victory shows his team batting strength because multiple players contributed to the win.

Earlier, in an exciting match during the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Peshawar Zalmi emerged victorious over Rawalpindiz by 5 wickets in a high-scoring encounter.

The game took place at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, where Zalmi successfully chased down a challenging target of 215 runs set by Rawalpindi, reaching it with 5 wickets remaining in the final over.

Rawalpindi batted first and posted an impressive total of 214 runs in their allotted overs. Yasir Khan delivered a brilliant performance, scoring 83 runs, while captain Mohammad Rizwan added 41 runs, leading the charge for Rawalpindi.

Peshawar Zalmi’s bowlers struggled against Rawalpindi’s aggressive batting. Ali Raza was the standout performer, claiming two wickets, while Aamer Jamal and Aaron Hardy each took one wicket. Despite their efforts, Zalmi’s bowling attack was unable to stem the flow of runs, allowing Rawalpindi’s batsmen to build a significant total.

In response, Zalmi’s opening batsmen laid a solid foundation for the chase. Captain Babar Azam scored 39 runs, and Mohammad Haris contributed 47 runs. However, it was the explosive late innings from Abdul Samad, Michael Bracewell, and Aamer Jamal that propelled Peshawar to victory.

Abdul Samad scored 33 runs off just 11 balls, Bracewell scored 35 runs off 17 balls, and Jamal finished unbeaten with 17 runs from 5 balls, ensuring Zalmi completed the chase with 5 wickets in hand.

With this victory, Peshawar Zalmi made a strong statement in the tournament, securing an exhilarating win in a high-pressure match.
