PESHAWAR: Rallies were held across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) over Israel’s blockade of the Global Sumud Flotilla and demanded the immediate release of the mission volunteers carrying the aid to Gaza. The Jamat-i-Islami former senator, Mushtaq Ahmad, is among the arrested volunteers.
The Islamic Students’ Union organised protest rallies and demonstrations across the province in response to the Israeli Navy’s attack on the Global Samood Flotilla and the hostage-taking of aid workers. Students from Peshawar, Buner, and Malakand Universities participated in the protests against this aggression.
The participating students carried placards with slogans denouncing the Israeli actions and appealed to the international community for urgent measures to ensure the safe delivery of aid to Gaza. A significant protest rally, organised by the Islamic Students’ Union, took place at Malakand University, beginning at the library lawn and culminating at the main gate. The rally saw attendance from leaders of other student organisations, including Shahzad Khan, President of the Insaf Students Federation, and Omar Ahmed Khan, Deputy Secretary of the Pakhtunkhwa Students Organisation.
During the demonstration, Jamia Nazim Moaz Khan strongly condemned the Israeli aggression, asserting that the attack on a peaceful aid convoy is a blatant violation of international laws and human rights. He called on the United Nations to take immediate notice of the situation and urged all countries to adopt a unified stance against Israel. Moaz Khan emphasised that Muslim countries, particularly the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), should show practical solidarity with the Palestinian people and implement effective measures to prevent such attacks in the future. He also demanded the immediate release of former Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan and other aid workers, stating that the Pakistani people will continue their struggle for Palestine.
