RAWALPINDI: ​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌ The protest by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) outside Adiala Jail ended today after police used water cannons to disperse the demonstrators. The police officers moved towards the protesters, a photo of the PTI workers running away in panic was created and some people were apprehended.

On the time of the protest, Aleema Khan, Imran Khan’s sister, deserted the place where the protest was going on and thus supported the police indirectly. The other leaders like Imran Khan’s sisters and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas also left the place without any trouble.

The water cannon demoralized the protesters a lot. Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas was fastening his turban while simultaneously the water from the cannon was hitting him and knocking the turban off several times and he was having a very hard time with the water of high pressure.

Shaukat Basra got a minor injury in the scuffle and Aleema Khan spoke highly of his courage and contribution. She further charged the police with excessive use of force and stated that they not only threw cold water on the protesters but also tried to use chemicals. Being such a situation, she advised the protesters to keep their calm and composure.

The Rawalpindi police have cleared the area completely from protesters and those who had fled to the nearby alleys have also been taken into custody. No major injuries have been reported although the protest was held with full intensity. However, the police-PIT workers conflict has escalated ​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌significantly.
