Prominent religious figure Maulana Khalid Amin was shot dead by unknown armed persons in the jurisdiction of Sarai Naurang police station on Thursday.
According to eyewitnesses, the attackers were riding a motorcycle, and after targeting the Maulana, they managed to escape easily after the incident. Immediately after the firing, locals and police shifted Maulana Khalid Amin to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Sarai Naurang, in a critical condition, but he succumbed to his injuries and joined the true creator.
The attackers fled after the firing. Police have started investigating the incident. The search for the accused is underway. Initially, the police have declared the incident a target killing.
