KURRAM: Prolonged dry and cold weather condition and lack of rain in Parachanir, Kurram have led to a shrap rise in seasonal diseases.

The number of patients with viral diseases like flu, chest infection and pneumonia increased due to prolonged dry weather conditions. Health experts and local authorities are sounding alarms as an increasing number of residents fall ill due to the adverse effects of the ongoing drought.

According to the doctors, the current very cold weather is causing viral infections especially chest infection and fever in Kurram disrtict. The increasing cold is causing health problems among people of all ages.

Most of the patients especially children had contracted viral diseases like influenza, bronchitis, nasal allergy, asthma, soar throat, chest infection, pneumonia, dry cough and scabies. Flu-related diseases have caught a large number of people particularly children and infants as patients with such diseases are seen in great number at the government as well as private hospitals.

The lack of rainfall has also increased the prevalence of respiratory issues, as dust storms and poor air quality are causing aggravated asthma and bronchitis cases.

Health experts said that people should use green tea, coffee and tea to avoid viral infections. Health experts also advises parents to protect children from cold-related illnesses by ensuring that they are dressed in warm clothing.

Experts also suggests that people in general should avoid exposure to cold winds in the early morning hours to stay safe.
