PESHAWAR: Provincial Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education, Arshad Ayub Khan has taken notice of the complaints of alleged financial irregularities and use of substandard material in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Human Capital Investment Project (HCIP) and directed the concerned authorities to submit a comprehensive report within two weeks.

Provincial Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education, Arshad Ayub Khan, on Tuesday, stated the alleged financial irregularities in the project and the use of substandard material.

The Education Minister made it clear that any kind of corruption, malpractice or use of substandard materials in projects initiated for public welfare will not be tolerated, and strict disciplinary action will be taken against the officials involved in it.

He said that the government fully believes in the principles of merit and transparency; therefore, any kind of negligence, omission or financial irregularity is unacceptable.
He directed the monitoring authorities to immediately inspect all the schools included in the project and conduct a detailed review of the construction quality and financial matters, and submit a report within the stipulated time. Along with this, the project works will be monitored by the Education Monitoring Team as well as the Provincial Planning and Development Department team.
He further said that strict action will be taken based on the reports provided, and the officers or contractors involved will be punished as per the law. Along with this, instructions have also been given to strictly monitor all ongoing projects of the Education Department and ensure construction and technical quality.
