The Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) administration has significantly increased the private room rents in the new block of the hospital.

According to the hospital administration, the daily rent of a private room in the new block has been fixed at Rs 15,000. According to sources, the rent of a double-bed semi-private room will be charged at Rs 13,000 per day, while the rent of a deluxe private room will be charged at Rs 20,000 per day. This increase has been implemented after the approval of the board of governors of the hospital.

The administration said that this increase in fees was inevitable to bring the hospital facilities in line with modern requirements, improve the quality of cleanliness, security, and nursing services.

It may be recalled that about two months ago, the rent of old private rooms in LRH was increased from Rs 3,000 to Rs 10,000. After the implementation of the new rates, the fee for private rooms in the hospital has become the highest compared to other government hospitals in the region.

Public circles have expressed concern over this increase, saying that treatment in government hospitals is becoming out of reach of the common man; however, the hospital administration thinks that significant improvements have been made in the facilities provided to patients, according to which the new rates have been fixed.
