ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reviewed the security situation in the country and region in a high level security meeting held here on Sunday.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, the meeting was attended by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Mohsin Naqvi, Azam Nazir Tarar, Ahad Khan Cheema, Attaullah Tarar, Ali Pervez Malik, Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi and top civil and military officials.
They briefly discussed regional and Pakistan’s internal security and operations, as well as Ghazab Lil Haq against the Afghan Taliban.
The statement said the meeting discussed the framework and various measures to establish peace in Pakistan’s region.
The meeting was also briefed on the country’s internal situation and security arrangements.
On the instructions of the Prime Minister, steps were also reviewed for the safe evacuation of Pakistani citizens from Iran after the war began there.
The participants of the meeting also established measures for the safe return of Pakistani nationals from Iran. The evacuation of Pakistani citizens from Iran is being facilitated through Azerbaijan.
