ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif announced an increased relief package for Ramazan. The Secretary of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) informed Shahbaz Sharif that this year the amount allocated under the Ramazan Package has been raised to Rs 13,000, aiming to provide dignified relief to deserving individuals.
The Secretary noted that in 2025, Rs 5,000 was provided to deserving families under the Ramazan Package, and the assistance will be distributed directly through national banks.
During the briefing, it was revealed that the total volume of the Prime Minister’s Ramazan Relief Package is Rs 38 billion. A Ministerial Committee will oversee all stages of the package, and the Prime Minister himself is monitoring the system.
In his address at the ceremony, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif mentioned that last year, financial assistance was provided to deserving individuals through a digital system. An amount of Rs 20 billion was allocated last year, while this year, Rs 38 billion has been set aside for the Ramazan Package.
Shahbaz Sharif emphasized that the funds for the Ramazan relief package will be distributed through a transparent system across all four provinces and Azad Kashmir. Each deserving family will receive Rs 13,000.
