ISLAMABAD: The President Asif Ali Zardari has approved the appointment of new judges to the Peshawar High Court according to an official notification issued by the Ministry of Law.
Justice Muhammad Tariq Afridi Justice Abdul Fayyaz and Justice Salahuddin have been appointed as judges of the Peshawar High Court under the approval. In addition, Justice Sadiq Ali Justice Syed Mudassar Ameer and Justice Qazi Jawad Ahsan have also been appointed to the court.
The Ministry of Law announced that these appointments will enhance judicial capacity while improving legal system operations.
The officials expected the new judges would help the Peshawar High Court to process cases faster while also improving transparency and providing justice services to people within the established time limits.
Judicial Commission appoints six permanent judges to PHC
Earlier, the Judicial Commission of Pakistan has confirmed the permanent appointment of six more judges to the Peshawar High Court (PHC) and also extended the six judges’ terms by six months.
The Judicial Commission meeting occurred on Wednesday and was led by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi. The meeting looked at the cases of 10 more judges of the Peshawar High Court.
Officially, the sources say that the commission members were unanimous in approving six judges as permanent, while the tenure of four additional judges was stretched for six months.
The judicial meeting was not attended by members of parliament from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party and a minister from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial government.
The commission issued a statement after the meeting stating that the decision was taken upon very close examination of data forms, professional backgrounds, and other relevant materials.
The new judges to be appointed permanently are Justice Muhammad Tariq Afridi, Justice Abdul Fayyaz, Justice Salahuddin, Justice Sadiq Ali, Justice Syed Mudassar Ameer, and Justice Qazi Jawad Ihsanullah.
The four judges whose services were extended for six months are Justice Farah Jamshed, Justice Inamullah Khan, Justice Sabitullah Khan, and Justice Aurangzeb.
