ISLAMABAD: Pakistan maintains its ongoing support for Kashmiri self-determination through the joint declaration of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Kashmir Solidarity Day.

President Zardari dedicated his message for the day to establishing February 5 as a date when Pakistan maintains its continuous backing for people living in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). He affirmed that all Pakistanis living outside the country stand together with Kashmiris who demand UN resolutions to enforce their right of self-determination.

The President stated that Kashmiri people have maintained their unbroken resistance against Indian rule for more than 80 years because Kashmir Solidarity Day began as a celebration of Benazir Bhutto’s leadership. He explained that the Kashmiri people have made sacrifices that demonstrate their bravery and dedication to their cause.

He declared India conducted an unlawful and one-sided act by revoking Kashmir’s special status through its August 5, 2019 actions. The President requested that international organizations compel India to stop its ongoing human rights abuses, while he declared Pakistan will always support the Kashmiri people.

Through his message, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed Pakistan’s unbreakable commitment to Kashmiri residents. The Kashmir dispute currently remains unresolved because the United Nations has not yet completed its work on this matter while UN Security Council resolutions guarantee the Kashmiri people their right to self-determination.

The Indian government through its persistent refusal to compromise, has prevented Kashmiris from exercising their voting rights for multiple decades, according to the Prime Minister who showed how human rights violations continue to occur in occupied Kashmir. Pakistan will continue to support Kashmir through diplomatic and political and moral channels, according to him while he described India’s 2019 move to remove Kashmir’s special status as an unlawful act.

The Kashmiri people will achieve freedom, according to Prime Minister Sharif who announced that Pakistan will support their quest for justice.
