Welcome 2026: Fireworks and street celebrations mark the start of a New Year across Pakistan

The new year celebration of 2026, which took place in Pakistan and all over the world, was the manifestation of new hopes, dreams, and steadfast resolution. The coming of the year 2026 was greeted by the whole nation with great excitement and enthusiasm as the cities were painted with brilliant fireworks and street festivities.

New year’s celebrations were held in the major cities of Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, and others. In Lahore, the Punjab government hosted a grand fireworks show at Liberty and Liberty Chowk, which attracted a huge number of citizens. Even though there were celebrations in different spots, heavy traffic in some areas was caused by the large number of people who were out to celebrate.

In Karachi, the fireworks display was also breath-taking, but there were reports of aerial firing in certain places despite the prohibition. To ensure the peace, Section 144 was enforced in both Karachi and Hyderabad, banning the riding of motorcycles with two people and the carrying of arms and restricting the setting off of fireworks only in the specified areas.

At the same time, a great celebration full of activity and fun took place at the lake in Islamabad’s Park View City, marking the new year. The music concerts were also attended by the people. The fireworks show was so impressive that it made the night sky look colorful. The crowd said that this kind of well-planned celebration is not very common and thus expressed their gratitude for the event.

As soon as the clock struck midnight, the crowd turned their backs on 2025, and expecting 2026 to be the year of no more wars, and the nation’s having all the good things like richness and happiness, they shouted “Happy New Year!”. Their prayers for the country included safety, development, stability, and a brilliant future. They also vowed to work together, no matter the differences, to build a stronger and more united Pakistan.
